Christians, do you think Gods original intention was to keep knowledge and intellect from man?

Knowledge of GOOD and EVIL. You focus on one word and ignore the other two, Good and Evil. Before the fall Adam and Eve only knew good. Once they ate from the tree of Knowledge of GOOD and EVIL their eyes were open to Evil.
